Duncan is co-founder and general partner at Basecamp Venture Partners, where he serves on the boards of a number of portfolio companies.

Duncan previously served as executive director at Wysdom (acquired by Calabrio in 2024), executive investor at Unata (acquired by Instacart in 2018), executive director at Chango (acquired by Rubicon Project in 2015), executive director at SurfEasy (acquired by Opera in 2015), investor at Joist (acquired by EverCommerce in 2018), executive director at RapidMind (acquired by Intel in 2009), executive investor at PushLife (acquired by Google in 2011), executive director at Brave Commerce (acquired by Rogers Media in 2012), and on the advisory board of Opalis (acquired by Microsoft in 2009).

Prior to his move into hands-on venture investing, Duncan was the founder and Chief Technology Officer of Think Dynamics, a developer of data centre automation software, which was acquired by IBM in May 2003. Think Dynamics became an integral part of IBM’s Tivoli portfolio and Blue Cloud initiative; Duncan served as an IBM executive until June 2005, guiding market and technology strategy for Tivoli’s on-demand automation software portfolio.

Earlier in his career, Duncan established a data centre consulting practice delivering enterprise systems architecture and management services to clients including Virgin, Norwich Union, one2one, Millipore, ADP, and Teleglobe across the UK, US, and Canada.

Duncan holds a BMath in Computer Science and Combinatorics & Optimization from the University of Waterloo.
